Cayuga Fund grant bolsters “IGNITE the Winter!”
Auburn, NY – IGNITE the Winter! will again return to Auburn’s downtown, thanks in part to an $1,890 grant from the Cayuga Community Fund.
The winter festival, which has become IGNITE’s signature event, will be held March 7, 2014 on Exchange Street in conjunction with the established First Friday event downtown. As in previous years, IGNITE the Winter! will feature a chili and comfort food cook-off, ice sculpture, live music, beer and wine sales and lots of family-friendly activities.
IGNITE the Winter! has established itself as the winter’s most anticipated event in Auburn, thanks to the efforts of IGNITE’s partners the Downtown Auburn Business Improvement District, the City of Auburn, the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce, Cayuga County Office of Tourism and many more. IGNITE is now soliciting sponsorships to help make this year’s IGNITE the Winter the best one yet.
“IGNITE is so grateful for the support of the Cayuga Community Fund this year,” said Daniel Lovell, IGNITE chairman. “Our goal for IGNITE the Winter! has always been to draw the community closer together, to celebrate and to bring together agencies and organizations to work together toward a common cause. It’s been exciting to watch the event grow and to give back to the community.”
The Cayuga Community Fund was created in 2008 to serve as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to nonprofits serving residents of Cayuga County. Grants are awarded from the endowment fund annually to aid vital programs in education, health, social services, the arts, civic and environmental concerns, as well as the preservation of historic resources in Cayuga County. The Cayuga Community Fund has granted more than $140,000 to nonprofit groups since 2010.
